About this island
The setting of Count Vlad III's castle dates back to 1435.
The real Dracula Castle is the now destroyed castle of Poenari, abandoned in 1476, the year the voivode Vlad III died, and never inhabited again.
But will you be able to unravel the mysteries that still deceive many travelers today?
Sometimes the real story has to deal with the collective imagination and with customs, two boulders that are difficult to scratch, but no less important than the real story.
