Coming Soon: Progress Your Fortnite Passes by Playing Any Experience
Fortnite continues to evolve with new experiences like LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, Fortnite Festival, and thousands of creator-made islands. Soon, Fortnite's pass progression systems will change to reward players regardless of what they like to play. By December 1, all passes in Fortnite will progress simultaneously by earning XP from playing any experience.
The Battle Royale Battle Pass currently levels from XP gained in any experience. The next pass to get this treatment will be the upcoming Music Pass. Formerly known as the Festival Pass, the Music Pass will also progress from XP gained from any source starting on November 2 with Fortnite Festival Season 6 and the next season of Fortnite Battle Royale. On December 1, the change will also be applied to the Brick or Treat LEGO Pass.
More Pass Simplifications
Similar to how the Battle Pass works, Music and LEGO Passes released after December 1 will change to one track with both free and premium rewards.
As you progress through pass tiers with XP, you’ll be able to claim rewards on the unlocked pages of each active pass you have. Rewards may be claimed in non-sequential order on all passes, in the same way that you can with the Battle Pass now. You’ll also be able to set each pass to auto-claim the next reward when it becomes available to you.
To simplify things once all passes progress using XP, we’ll be retiring Festival Points on November 2, followed by Battle Stars and Studs on December 1. Once these earned currencies are retired, the Battle Pass, Music Pass, and LEGO Pass will simply unlock rewards for you to claim as you earn XP.
You’ll still need to purchase the Battle Pass, Music Pass, and/or LEGO Pass separately to access all premium rewards in each pass. Stay tuned, you’ll soon have an easy way to snag all premium passes at once!
Want something from a pass that you haven’t unlocked yet? Instead of buying levels to unlock rewards, you’ll now be able to directly purchase pass rewards (up to the allowed limit) without progressing to them on any active pass you have purchased.
Simultaneous Pass Progression - FAQ
How does progressing multiple passes simultaneously work?
Earn XP in any experience in Fortnite and you’ll progress across all active Fortnite passes simultaneously. The XP you earn will be applied to all Fortnite passes, but individual passes may require different amounts of XP in order to advance to the next reward tier. These requirements are reflected on the individual Pass reward screens.
I like the rewards in the Music Pass and LEGO Pass. Can I progress them by playing something besides Fortnite Festival and LEGO Fortnite?
You can! Activities that give XP, including creator-made games, will progress you in the Music Pass after the changes happen for it on November 2, and the LEGO Pass after the changes happen for it on December 1.
When will the move away from Festival Points, Battle Stars, and Studs happen?
-
Festival Points will be retired when the Music Pass goes live on November 2.
-
Battle Stars will be retired on December 1.
-
Studs will be retired on December 1, at which point the Brick or Treat LEGO Pass will begin to progress from XP gained in any Fortnite experience.
When will the LEGO and Music Passes move to one track with both Free and Premium Rewards?
New Music and LEGO Passes released after December 1 will be one track of both free and premium rewards. The current “Brick or Treat” LEGO Pass will keep the dual track format (free reward track and Premium Reward Track) before the next LEGO Pass moves to one track. The upcoming Music Pass will have dual tracks also, and will move to one track with the next Music Pass that follows.
How does directly purchasing a reward on one pass affect my progression on other passes?
Buying rewards directly on one pass will not progress or affect your other active passes. If you have both the Music Pass and Battle Pass, and buy the remainder of the rewards on the Music Pass, your Battle Pass wouldn’t be progressed any further than it was already.
We hope this change encourages you to play where you want, how you want! Soon it’ll be even easier to unlock awesome rewards in Fortnite.
