Fortnite Returns to iOS in the European Union!

Today, the Fortnite mobile app returns to iOS in the European Union (EU)! If you’re in the EU, download Fortnite from the mobile Epic Games Store available on iOS at fortnite.com/download. 

Of course, iPhone isn’t the only way to download the Fortnite app. Android players worldwide can download Fortnite from the mobile Epic Games Store, available from Epic Games at fortnite.com/download.

For iPhone/iPad users in the EU and Android users worldwide, you can also download the Epic Games Store by visiting https://epic.gm/mobile using the Brave Browser. 


Mobilize for Katalina!

Fortnite Katalina Outfit, Katalina’s Kit Bag Back Bling, Kat Claws Pickaxe, and Tactical Kat Wrap

Feline fandom, paws a sec for some big news. From now until v32.00 in November, players with the Fortnite mobile app can unlock the Katalina Outfit and more by completing Quests! Update (October 4): The Quests will now last until December 10, 2024, at 2 AM ET.

  • Earn 25,000 XP to unlock the Tactical Kat Wrap.

  • Earn 50,000 XP to unlock the Kat Claws Pickaxe.

  • Earn 75,000 XP to unlock the Katalina's Kit Bag Back Bling.

  • Earn 100,000 XP to unlock the Katalina Outfit.


You can complete these Quests by playing on the Fortnite mobile app on Android or — in the European Union — Android or iPhone.

NOTE: The Quest reward items aren’t exclusive to the Quests, as they’ll be available for purchase in the Shop for all Fortnite players at a later date.


How to Download Fortnite on iOS in the EU

Ready to drop back into battle? Or try new experiences for the very first time? Here’s how to download Fortnite on iOS in the EU!
 


1. On your iPhone, you’ll find Fortnite on the Epic Games Store marketplace, not the App Store. You must meet these requirements to install the Epic Games Store on your iPhone:

  • You must pass Apple’s region check for European Union customers. (This is a check from Apple to verify you live where you live.)

  • Your device must be on iOS 17.6 or higher.

  • You must be using the Safari browser.
     


2. On your iPhone, download the Epic Games Store using the big blue “Get it on iPhone” button on fortnite.com/download!
 


3. If you meet all the requirements, press “Continue”!
 


4. You’ll see a pop-up saying your device isn’t set up to allow marketplaces by “Epic Games.” What to do? Don’t close your browser — simply head over to Settings and do the following:

  • Near the top of the Settings, tap the banner that says “Allow Marketplace From Epic Games.”

  • Choose “Allow.”
     


5. Re-open the browser and return to the window you were on. Press “Install," then on the next screen, tap “Install App Marketplace.” Tap “Continue” on the confirmation pop-up.
 


6. Now that you have the Epic Games Store on your device, select the Fortnite app and tap “Install.”
 


7. Lastly, play Fortnite for free and have fun!
 


Fortnite on iOS in the EU… FAQ


I don’t live in the EU. Can I download Fortnite on my iOS device?

For non-EU residents, Apple has blocked your ability to install Fortnite on iOS devices. We’re working with regulators around the world to get the Epic Games Store available on iOS in other regions, so that more iOS users can play Fortnite!

Whether you live in the EU or not, you can still play Fortnite on iOS via cloud streaming:


If I travel outside the EU, can I still play Fortnite after following the installation instructions above?

Per Apple’s policies, if you’ve installed the Epic Games Store and Fortnite on your iOS device as an EU resident, you can play Fortnite when traveling outside the EU for up to 30 days.

If there’s a Fortnite update that needs to be installed while you’re traveling outside the EU, you can install the update as long as you’ve been outside the EU for 30 days or less.
 


What iOS version does Fortnite (native) require?

Fortnite on iOS (native) requires iOS version 17.6 or newer.
 


Can I play Fortnite on iPad if I'm in the EU?

While the iPadOS 18 Beta allows access to the Epic Games Store, this Beta is not officially supported by Fortnite and you may not have the same experience as on iPhone. Official support will come after iPadOS 18 launches in the EU.

Right now, players worldwide in supported regions can play Fortnite on iPadOS through these cloud streaming options: Xbox Cloud Gaming, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, or Amazon Luna.
 


Is Fortnite available on Mac again in the EU?

Apple terminated our ability to develop Fortnite for Mac back in 2020 without explanation.
 


What’s happening to the August 2020 version of Fortnite?

The August 2020 version of Fortnite no longer works on iOS/iPadOS/macOS and Android devices. A sincere thank you to everyone who continued playing Battle Royale Chapter 2 Season 3 over the past few years. We are continuing the fight to allow Fortnite to return to all iPhone and iPad users worldwide in the future.
 


Which iOS devices can run the current version of Fortnite natively at 60 FPS?

Fortnite is updating to version 31.00 as it returns to iOS in the EU. The following iPhones can run Fortnite v31.00 natively at 60 FPS:

  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 12
  • iPhone 13
  • iPhone 14
  • iPhone 15
  • iPhone SE (2022)

 


In the EU, is Fortnite on iPhone available on any other marketplace?

iPhone players in the EU can also play Fortnite via AltStore PAL.
