How to Join Fortnite Tournaments

Fortnite tournaments are where players put their skills to the test against other players in their region and, in some cases, the global stage! In this guide, we’ll explain how to sign up for tournaments, how they work, and the qualification criteria to enter a tournament.

Entering a Fortnite Tournament

While there are some differences depending on the specific event, here is how to enter Fortnite tournaments for players who meet the tournament’s qualifications:

Open the Fortnite Battle Royale Lobby and select the Compete tab.
Choose the tournament you’d like to join. (You can also find previous and upcoming tournaments in this tab.)
Navigate to the Play tab and Mode Selection.
Select the tournament under the By Epic list.

While there are Fortnite tournaments that are purely for the love of the game, major competitions like Cash Cups, Victory Cups, and FNCS (Fortnite Championship Series) offer cash prizes to winners. Some oOther competitions offer in-game cosmetics.

How Do Fortnite Tournaments Work?

All individual Fortnite tournaments have a specific date and time scheduled for play. You can find these details on the Fortnite Competitive Schedule. For most tournaments, players start each session paired against opponents with similar scores, and earn points for eliminating other players and remaining uneliminated for as long as they can.

Tournaments that have cash prizes — like Cash Cups, Victory Cups, and the Fortnite Champion Series — each have their own rules that can change with each Battle Royale Chapter/Season and often have multiple phases before the final event.

Fortnite Tournament Requirements

There are some eligibility requirements you must meet in order to participate in Fortnite tournaments:

Age requirements. Players must be at least 13 years old. All players under 18 years old will need signed permission from a parent or guardian to claim cash prizes.
Two-Factor Authentication. You must have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled in your Epic Games account to compete in all Fortnite tournaments. To enable 2FA, go to the “Password and security” section of your Epic Games account settings.
Minimum Account Level. For general tournaments, you’ll need a minimum Account Level 50 to participate. However, most cash prize tournaments require an Account Level of at least 350.
Tournament Experience. For most tournaments requiring an Account Level of at least 350, you’ll need to have played 14 different tournaments in the last 180 days of the competition. Playing multiple rounds or regions in the same tournament do not count as separate tournaments.
