How to Make Money in Fortnite Cash Cups

Fortnite Cash Cups offer players a legitimate opportunity to earn money by turning their Fortnite skills into actual cash. Whether you're a seasoned pro or someone who's just getting comfortable with competitive play, Cash Cup Fortnite tournaments provide a structured path to compete for real prize money!

What are Fortnite Cash Cups?

Fortnite Cash Cups give players a shot at competitive earnings. These tournaments run regularly, offering structured competitions where performance directly translates to prize money. Unlike major esports events that require extensive qualifications, Cash Cups are designed to be more accessible.

Each Cash Cup tournament typically consists of two rounds, with Round 1 serving as your qualification stage and Round 2 where the real money changes hands. The top performers from Round 1 advance to compete for cash prizes.

Types of Cash Cups

There are different types of Cash Cups:

  • Solo Cash Cups: Perfect for those who prefer to rely on their individual skills (replaced Solo Victory Cups in 2025)
  • Duos Cash Cups: Team up with a partner to tackle the competition together
  • Victory Cash Cups: Feature both a first-round qualifier and second-round where teams earn cash for every Victory Royale

In addition to “Cash Cups,” there are other competitive events that award cash, such as Playstation Cups. Although they do not offer cash prizes, Ranked Cups, offer weekly tournaments for players of all ranks to practice competitive play.

How are Points Distributed?

Unless otherwise specified, you’ll earn points based on your placement in each match (1st place, 2nd place, etc.) and how many eliminations you get in each match.

Depending on the specific tournament format, an elimination can be worth one or two points. You can find the full point distribution for any cup through the “Compete” tab in game, or through the Rules & Guidelines library on the Fortnite Competitive website!

Cash Cup Prizes

So, how much money do you get from Cash Cups? Prize pools vary significantly by region and tournament type, reflecting the different competitive landscapes and playerbases worldwide.

Cash Cup prizes are distributed based on final leaderboard placement after Round 2. The money flows from the top down, with the highest competitors on the leaderboard claiming the largest chunks of the prize pool.

How Does Fortnite Give You Money from Cash Cups?

Epic Games handles Fortnite Cash Cup money distribution through its established prize payment system. Once you've earned a cash prize, you'll need to complete our prize claim process, which includes identity verification and tax documentation requirements.

The payment process typically takes several weeks after the tournament’s conclusion. Epic Games processes payments in batches. You'll receive email notifications throughout the process, keeping you informed about your payment status. Cash Cup victories are paid direct bank transfers in most regions, though payment methods may vary based on local regulations and banking partnerships.

Cash Cup earnings may be subject to tax obligations in your jurisdiction. Epic Games will provide necessary tax documentation (Forms 1099-MISC for US residents and 1042-S for non-US residents), but you're responsible for understanding and meeting your local tax requirements. We follow backup withholding rates for both US and non-US residents.

Eligibility Requirements

Before you start planning your Cash Cup strategy, make sure you meet the basic eligibility requirements for Fortnite Cash Cup participation:

  • Your Epic Games account must have Two-Factor Authentication enabled and be at Account Level 350 or higher.
  • You must also have competed in at least 14 distinct Epic tournaments within the last 180 days. These security measures protect both players and tournament integrity.
